Beautiful Light: everything we know before the December 2026 launch
Deep Worlds is shipping its horror extraction shooter into Early Access this December. Here is the confirmed picture: the 24 player raid, the playable monsters, and the day one content list.

Beautiful Light has spent most of its life as a trailer people could not stop arguing about. With more than 700,000 Steam wishlists behind it and an Early Access launch set for December 2026, it is worth separating what Deep Worlds has actually confirmed from what the genre discourse has invented around it.
The pitch
It is a PvPvPvE tactical first person extraction shooter, and the studio leads with horror rather than with loot. Enter, secure, extract: you gear up, go looking for an artifact in a hostile environment, and leave by helicopter. If you die on the way out, your kit is gone.
What makes the tone work is how much of it is diegetic. Your map, inventory and objectives sit on a PDA strapped to your forearm, so reading them means lowering your weapon. The audio does the rest: breathing, footsteps, heartbeat, and the muffle of a gas mask.
The raid
One match is 24 players. Six squads of three operators, and six anomalies.
The anomalies are the twist. They are not scripted AI bosses guarding a room, they are players who chose the monster slot, and their win condition is not the artifact. It is you. That turns every extraction shooter habit you have into a liability: holding an angle for too long, moving loud, treating the PvE threat as background noise.
Playing the monster
Anomalies run a progression track that is entirely separate from your operator. Killing and devouring operators earns experience, that experience feeds a skill tree, and the skill tree unlocks both new abilities and new playable anomalies.
The closest reference points are Dead by Daylight and Evolve, but the asymmetry here sits inside a tactical shooter rather than a chase game. Eighteen armed humans against six monsters is a very different maths problem from four survivors against one killer.
What ships in December
Deep Worlds is releasing in Early Access and has been direct about the launch build being a foundation. Per the Steam store page, day one includes:
- 2 maps
- 1 game mode (Raid)
- More than 20 weapons with customization
- 4 AI anomalies
- 1 playable anomaly
- The forearm PDA interface and the inventory system
Progression at launch covers character levels, skill trees, traders and quests.
What we still do not know
No exact release day, no current price, and no console plans. Playtest access has been handled through closed alpha waves rather than open sign ups, so wishlisting on Steam remains the practical way to catch the next one.
Everything above is sourced from the Steam store page and from Deep Worlds' own public statements. When that changes, it changes here first.
