Privacy policy

BL Guide has no account and no form. Google Analytics runs only if you accept it, what the host records, and how to exercise your rights.

Short version: BL Guide has no accounts, no forms and no advertising. Google Analytics only runs if you press Accept, and the site works exactly the same if you refuse. You can read the whole site without giving anything. This page explains the little that does happen, as required by the GDPR.

The data controller is the publisher of the site, reachable at contact.blguide@gmail.com. See the legal notice.

What the site does not do

  • No cookie without your consent. The only thing stored before you choose is your choice itself, in your browser.
  • No account, no newsletter, no form, so no name, e-mail or password is ever asked for.
  • No advertising, no advertising network, no cross site tracking.
  • No data sold or shared with anyone for marketing.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States). Like every web host, Cloudflare processes technical data when a page is served: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, your browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the page and to protect the site against attacks, which is our legitimate interest under article 6.1.f of the GDPR. These logs are kept by Cloudflare for a short period, under its own privacy policy. Cloudflare serves the site from servers around the world, so data may be processed outside the European Union, under the standard contractual clauses Cloudflare applies.

Cookies and audience measurement

Google Analytics, only with your consent. On your first visit a banner asks whether you accept audience measurement. Until you press Accept, nothing is requested from Google. If you accept, Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) sets its `_ga` cookies, which last up to 13 months, and records the pages you view, how you arrived, your device, browser and approximate country. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. The data is kept 14 months and is used only to see which pages help and what to improve. The legal basis is your consent (article 6.1.a of the GDPR). Advertising cookies stay off: they are refused by default.

Changing your mind. The Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page reopens the banner. Refusing after accepting stops the measurement and deletes the `_ga` cookies. Your choice is remembered for six months, then the banner asks again.

Data outside the EU. Google may process Analytics data in the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework to which Google is certified. Details are in Google's privacy policy.

Cloudflare Web Analytics also counts page views, without cookies and without following you from site to site. It reports totals only: pages viewed, referring sites, countries, browsers. Cloudflare states that it does not use this data to profile users, and does not sell it.

Fonts and images

The fonts and every image are served from this site. No request goes to Google Fonts or to any other third party while you read a page.

Embedded videos

Articles show a still image of a YouTube video, not the player. Nothing is sent to YouTube until you click that image. If you do, the player loads from `youtube-nocookie.com`, YouTube's privacy enhanced mode: your IP address goes to Google, which may store data in your browser for playback. That only ever happens on your own click, and is covered by Google's privacy policy. If you never press play, YouTube receives nothing.

Links to other sites

Pages link to Steam, Epic, Discord, YouTube, Deep Worlds and other sites. Once you follow a link, that site's own rules apply. BL Guide has no control over them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask for access to your data, its correction or erasure, a restriction of processing, or object to it. Since the site keeps no personal data of its own, most requests concern the host's technical logs. Write to contact.blguide@gmail.com and you will get an answer within a month. You may also complain to the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

Changes

Any change to this policy is published here, with the date updated at the top of the page.
